On Saturday, 29 March 2025, the ceremony to mark the start of construction of a new Arctic exhibition complex at Prague Zoo took place. The symbolic tapping of a block of ice was performed by CEO Karel Volf together with Prague Zoo Director Miroslav Bobek and other representatives of the Zoo and Prague City.

The new Arctic exhibit, covering an area of over 8,000 sqm, will offer polar bears modern facilities with spacious enclosures, pools, various types of surfaces and a maternity facility. The project’s aim is to significantly improve the living conditions of these endangered animals in Prague Zoo.

The construction is being carried out by Metrostav DIZ plant 9, led by project manager Josef Majer.
